Lesson 1: Community Readiness Model Overview
Community Change
When you begin to think about all of the components that go into making an individual change and applying that to an entire community - the picture becomes much more complex. There's a lot more to think about: more people, different backgrounds and experiences, different goals, opinions, levels of caring, etc. etc. etc. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with all of the moving parts, but that is where the Community Readiness Model comes into play!
The model itself provides us with a framework to address change in a structured manner. We will be exploring pieces along the way, such as the community readiness assessment. This assessment piece is what helps us identify how ready a community is to change AND how to increase their readiness so that change efforts may be successful.
